How Long Will This Fix Last?

Tom installed the replacement used die-cast ring for the directional the other night. He used permanent-grade Loctite on the retaining screw. Ariel's sister, Brianna, has been driving me since Ariel left for a trip California. So far the fix is holding.

Brianna did mention that the running the wipers for a while causes the wiper switch to get very hot. Tom's going to have to disassemble, clean, and reassemble that switch.

Without Direction...al

Yesterday Ariel had the directional stalk just flop loose after trying to indicate for a right turn. Tom pulled my steering wheel and discovered that the die-cast ring (Part A in the picture) had broken. He called the Corvair Ranch this morning and ordered a used replacement.

On a positive note, it appears that my oil consumption rate is going down. They have been checking my oil level frequently, and over the last few days of driving, I've only burned about a pint of oil.
